Ready to listen to your needs and concerns.
Growing up in military families,
Sudbury is where my husband and I found home.
I was elected as the first woman President of the University of Iowa student body. I represented all 30,000 students – from freshmen to graduate students – before the Board of Regents, throughout the Big Ten, and in the Iowa legislature.
I grew up in a Democratic home, but ultimately worked for two moderate Republicans on Capitol Hill in the late 1990s. There are upstanding people on both sides of the aisle, and I am proud to have kept an open mind and learned so much about finding common ground along the way. My legislative areas of focus covered the Middle East and North Africa, environmental protection policy, and animal rights.
I was elected twice by Haynes Elementary School parents to the state-mandated School Council at Haynes, which is a collaborative body of parents, educators, and community members that works with the school principal to identify educational needs of students, review the annual school budget, and formulate the school improvement plan.
In 2020, I joined the Board of Sudbury Extended Day and in 2022 was elected the Chairperson of the Board. This non-profit began as an idea of the Sudbury League of Women Voters in 1984. I was proud to be a part of an organization that more than doubled in capacity, to help meet the changing needs of Sudbury families.
